Wear Resistance
In typical sliding wear applications, TriCem’s improved
hardness and lubricity provide a superior coating solution that
has demonstrated reduction of wear in excess of 500%. The improved
density allows for coating new applications that were previously
unsuitable such as metal cutting tools, forming dies, extrusion
dies, and highly abrasive applications.

Hardness
TriCem is one of the hardest metal plating materials ever developed.
It is harder than EN Phos and harder than chrome. TriCem endured
tests conducted by a third party materials lab for hardness
using the Vickers and Knoop methods against other hard coatings.
Temperature Tolerance
TriCem can withstand elevated operating temperatures from 200°F
to +1,500°F on suitable, high temperature alloys. By way
of comparison, hard chrome, electroless nickel and most PVD
coatings start to deteriorate at temperatures over 850°F.
